Answering the Call of God in ’Down from the Mountaintop’

Hollywood, Calif. - Many of us have heard the call and are ready to answer God. Trouble is, not everyone around us is ready to listen.

That’s what Adam discovers in “Down from the Mountaintop,” Family Theater Productions’ newest faith-based short film for teens and families. The drama on DVD tells the story of a shy teen who hears God’s call for him, but is disappointed when others don’t share his enthusiasm for his newfound spirituality.

Based on scripture, “Down from the Mountaintop” relates to The Transfiguration, when the Disciples witness Christ’s transformation into radiant glory and want to bask in that glow forever.

"This is an experience that many of us have felt," said Father David Guffey, C.S.C., writer and director of the family drama. “We discover what God wants us to do and are excited to follow that path. But our friends and family don’t understand what we’ve experienced. Like the Disciples, we must come down from the mountaintop and do as God ask us, even if others don’t get it.”

"Down from the Mountaintop" stars Alex Miller as Adam and Paulina Cerrilla as Cristina, a recurring role in Family Theater Productions movies for the young actress. She also sings lead vocals in the Christian rock song “You’re the Author of My Life,” which is featured in the new film.

The cast also includes Tito Rogers as Michael, a friend, as well as Mat Lagerman and Caitlen Masters as Adam’s parents.

The film is ideal for families looking to deepen their faith while exploring the spiritual side of topical issues and how they relate to the life of Christ. It is part of a DVD set for teens and families and can also be used with youth groups and in faith formation programs.

“Down from the Mountaintop” is produced in English, dubbed in Spanish, and subtitled in French and Portuguese on one DVD and includes a multi-lingual study guide. It sells for $12.95, plus shipping and tax. It can be ordered online at www.HCFMstore.org.

Paulina Cerrilla: Lead Actress in Family Faith-based DVD

“Down from the Mountaintop” features up-and-coming star Paulina Cerrilla. She was a contestant on season 3 of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2012 and was recently cast in the short film “String Theory.” Cerilla is also a Covergirl makeup model for the Hispanic market. As a singer, she has posted videos of her music that have been seen by tens of millions of viewers.

At 19 years of age, Paulina is more than your typical Mexican-American girl with a mane of auburn tendrils. The “Voice Team Christina” alum has also made her mark in the entertainment industry – owing this to her enchanting vocals and anthemic songwriting in the music industry; and to her undeniable charisma and versatility in the film/television world. Paulina has the hunger and drive necessary in both arenas to create a force to be reckoned with.

Hailing from Texas, the internet sensation songstress found her identity as an artist through many years of development and self discovery. Paulina’s sound draws from various influences, including soul, pop and Latin pop genres. Theses influences are evident when you listen to her unique melodies that have garnered her over 27 million views on her successful YouTube channel.

Paulina currently has a deal with CoverGirl Cosmetics, as their official “beauty guru”; is producing and starring in films such as “String Theory” (premiere at Hollyshorts Film Festival); and “Family Dinner” (premiere Nov. 2014, also produced by Family Theater Productions); is working with Awesomeness TV as a host, recurring guest star and musician networker; and is writing and recording new materials to release.

Whether Paulina is on your living room television, on your laptop screen, on your playlist, on a stage or silver screen, this multitalented Mexican-American girl will not go unnoticed.
