Holy Cross Family Ministries Pilgrimage to Ireland
The Holy Cross Family Ministries annual Pilgrimage tour to Ireland will take place from October 5-13, 2009. We have a wonderful trip planned for you so we hope you will consider joining us.
County Donegal will be the focus of our trip this year. We will visit the famous St. Patrick's College and Maynooth castle. The pilgrimage will take us to Grand Atlantic Drive and the Glenveagh Castle. Towards the end of our trip, we will visit Ballintubber Abbey, Westport House and enjoy a medieval banquet at Knappogue Castle.
This pilgrimage is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, CSC. We will once again visit the home parish of Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, and the Father Peyton Centre, which memorializes him. Fr. Peyton's cause for sainthood has been introduced, and we will have a special day of recollection after Sunday Mass at Fr. Peyton's parish church. Fr. Peyton worked tirelessly to encourage the strengthening of families through the daily praying of the family Rosary, since that was his experience in his home in county Mayo. The Shrine of Our Lady of Knock will be our final visit in Mayo.
As usual, Mass will be celebrated each day in a different Irish church, and the Rosary will be prayed on the bus. Bring along your special intentions, because we wll complete a novena of Rosaries asking Fr. Peyton's intercession. And bring along some friends who might like to get familiar with Fr. Peyton's story, and the continuation of Fr. Peyton's ministry in Holy Cross Family Ministries.
I look forward to sharing this blessed time with you. Please help us get the word out about our pilgrimage to Ireland in 2009!
In Jesus and Mary,
Rev. John Phalen, CSC, President
