Minute Meditation

… A Minute Meditation

June 25, 2010

The proverb of Christ “one sows, another reaps” should give us pause when we are tempted to take pride in our own accomplishments.  Our success depended on so much that was not of our doing - our native talent, the support of family, the training of teachers, encouragement of friends - to say nothing of our life, health, good habits and God’s grace.  When we recall that “all good gifts come from the Father,” we won’t be tempted to vainglory because of our accomplishments.  We will rather be grateful to him for what he has done in us and give him thanks and praise.  In her Magnificat Our Blessed Mother has shown us what our attitude should be:  “He who is mighty has done great things for me and holy is His name.”  As children of God we should be like Mary truly grateful and truly humble.
